The Red Scarf Campaign

November 24, 2024 - December 1, 2024
140 King St E, Hamilton, ON

Leading up to AIDS Awareness Week (November 24-December 1), volunteers knit red scarves.  To kick-off AIDS Awareness Week, interactive public awareness art installations are set up with hundreds of red scarves lining the streets.  The scarves are free and are taken by community members.  The scarves represent the red ribbon which is the international symbol of HIV/AIDS awareness.  Not only do the scarves help raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, but they also share the warmth for those who may be in need.

What is The Red Scarf Project?

This unique awareness event began in London, Ontario and has been held successfully in many communities in Canada.  The concept is simple; create an interactive public awareness art installation that also gives back to the community.

Who benefits?

Although there have been remarkable medical advancements to improve the health of people living with HIV, there is no cure or vaccine to prevent HIV infection.  Stigma and myths about HIV continue to impact the incidence of the virus as well as the lives of people living with HIV.

How Can I help?

Donate

Use the form below to make a cash donation towards the Red Scarf Campaign.  Your donation will help us to supply the knitting materials required to make the red scarves for our volunteers who knit all year round leading up to World AIDS Day.

We use a free platform called Zeffy who will ask for an optional additional donation in support of their platform.

If you do not wish to leave an additional donation to Zeffy, select other amount then leave that field blank.

Tax receipts are automatically issued by Zeffy.  If you require your tax receipt to be re-issued, please contact Community Engagement at mce@positivehealthnetwork.org or call 905-528-0854 ext. 234.
